Happy New Year!! As we start this New Year, I wonder... how many people have "a new year's resolution?"   You know... that big goal you want to accomplish... and you work really hard at it until you reach your first set-back… and then -if you are anything like me- you get the mindset that “I’ve done my best” and go back to old habits and give up that goal.   Or maybe you choose something really attainable... then you make a plan, work hard, and succeed.   Well this year, I have made some New Year resolutions... and today I will share my sewing studio goals with you.   So, a little back story to get started… I am a fabric collector – I buy it faster than I can use it!!   What my husband refers to as a closet, I call it a fabric vault, LOL!!   So, my first goal for the year is to use 2x what I buy 😲 !!   My plan will require that I project purchase as much as possible.   Project purchasing is only buying supplies for the project that I am currently working on – N
A Sewing Plan/Journal for the New Year How did your sewing go in 2022?   Did you sew that wardrobe for yourself that you have dreamed about for years?   Did you learn to sew an item like jeans or a coat?   Or did you make a shirt for your husband?   If you would like to be more successful with your sewing projects in the coming year, why not prepare a plan now that will help make that happen.   It doesn’t have to be an elaborate plan.   It can be as simple or complex as you desire.   It should be based on your current sewing skills as well as the skills you want to develop in the coming year.   Start by getting a notebook to use to write your plan and record your progress. List what type of sewing you currently do, i.e. quilting, garments, outer wear, bags, home décor, etc.   Follow that with the type of sewing you would like to learn to do.   Then add specific items or projects.   Under each project, list the techniques you need to learn to complete each one.   For example,
The Lansing Clippers is offering its members the opportunity to have someone help them fit a tee shirt pattern and sew it in a class to be held Saturday, March 11, 2023.   The class is limited to ten members.   Each person who registers for the class will be assigned a coach who will fit the pattern.   When the class begins in March, each student will have the shirt cut out and ready to sew.   The coaches will be there to assist in the process of sewing the shirt together.   If you gave up on sewing garments because you could not get a pattern to fit you, this is what you need to get started making clothes for yourself again.   The sign-up for this class is underway.   I believe there are three places left in the class.   If you are interested in the class, make sure you sign up at the meeting next week, December 20 th .   If you are interested in fitting a tee shirt pattern but cannot take this class, you can still fit your pattern by yourself or get a friend to assist you.
