The Lansing Clippers is offering its members the opportunity to have someone help them fit a tee shirt pattern and sew it in a class to be held Saturday, March 11, 2023.  The class is limited to ten members.  Each person who registers for the class will be assigned a coach who will fit the pattern.  When the class begins in March, each student will have the shirt cut out and ready to sew.  The coaches will be there to assist in the process of sewing the shirt together.

If you gave up on sewing garments because you could not get a pattern to fit you, this is what you need to get started making clothes for yourself again.  The sign-up for this class is underway.  I believe there are three places left in the class.  If you are interested in the class, make sure you sign up at the meeting next week, December 20th.

If you are interested in fitting a tee shirt pattern but cannot take this class, you can still fit your pattern by yourself or get a friend to assist you.  There are lots of resources to help you.  One of the books I recommend is the Palmer/Pletsch Complete Guide to Fitting by Pati Palmer and Marta Alto.  You can also find some good resources by searching the internet.

I have a post on the Chicken Little Sews blog that takes you through the fitting process. I describe most of the fitting issues you may find when fitting a tee shirt.   If you are taking the class or interested in the fitting process, you can access the information at Let's Fit a Tee Shirt.

I hope this class and information about fitting will start you on a journey to sewing garments for yourself.  If you can get a simple tee shirt pattern to fit you, there is no end to the many variations you can make from this one pattern.  I look forward to seeing lots of different tee tops worn by our members this spring.
